What is ABA?

ABA therapy stands for Applied Behavior Analysis therapy. It’s a scientific, evidence-based approach that focuses on understanding and improving human behavior. It’s most commonly used to support individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental conditions, though its principles can apply in many settings (education, healthcare, business, etc.).

Behavior-focused: ABA looks at how behavior works, how it is affected by the environment, and how learning takes place.

Skill building: It helps individuals learn new skills, from communication and social interaction to academics, daily living, and self-care.

Behavior reduction: It addresses challenging behaviors (like aggression, self-injury, tantrums) by identifying their causes and teaching healthier alternatives.

Data-driven: Therapists collect data during sessions to track progress and adjust strategies as needed.

Individualized: Every ABA program is tailored to the person’s needs, goals, and abilities.
